View In AppOne of the advantages of an EV platform is the space and the ability to have a longer wheelbase due to the flexibility. The Ioniq5 would be sold most likely with a single electric motor configuration with a top speed of 180 km/h. It would be a fast charger capable as it will juice up its battery from 0-80 percent in just 18 minutes. (Source: Somnath Chatterjee)
The India specifications have not been revealed but globally the Ioniq5 comes with two battery pack sizes- 58kWh and 77.4kWh. That is good enough for a near 400km range and a 500km plus range. The battery placed beneath the floor which is a flat one with no central tunnel. The boot is also decently sized along with a modular interior. (Source: Somnath Chatterjee)
The interior also used sustainable materials and has an airy feel with a lounge-like atmosphere along with a big touchscreen. The Ioniq5 would most likely be assembled in India and that is a big difference from the Kia EV6 which is an import as being assembled would enable Hyundai to price it more aggressively. At its expected price bracket the Ioniq5 will not have any rivals as such being a premium electric SUV from Hyundai positioned above the Kona EV. The localised E-GMP platform will also enable Hyundai to use it for other products including a more mass market EV in the offing. (Source: Somnath Chatterjee)
