New Delhi: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again caught the attention of people on social media for his unusual name change on Twitter after the head of the Chechen Republic responded to his challenge to take on Russian President Vladimir Putin in combat.

In response to Musk's challenge, head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov called him "effeminate" and said he needed to "pump up those muscles in order to change from the gentle Elona into the brutal Elon."

Musk, whose account name in Twitter has been changed to 'Elona Musk', tweeted a screenshot of Kadyrov's Telegram post on Tuesday.

The screenshot of Kadyrov's post shows him cautioning the 50-year-old Musk in his letter as, "Elon Musk, a word of advice. Don't measure your strength against that of Putin.

"Vladimir Vladimirovich will look unsportsmanlike when he beats the hell out of you, a much weaker opponent," he said, using Vladimir Putin's middle name.

Kadyrov, who is an ally of Russia and whom Putin has chosen to govern Chechnya, took a jibe at Musk over his challenge to Russian President.

The strongman leader of Chechnya, infamous for the persecution of gay, offered the Tesla and SpaceX founder training at the Russian Special Forces University, Akhmat Fight Club and the Chechen State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company to prepare for the fight with Putin.

"You will return from the Chechen Republic a completely different person Elon, that is, Elona," wrote Ramzan Kadyrov.

Retorting to the suggestions, Musk changed his name to Elona Musk and tweeted, "Thank you for the offer, but such excellent training would give me too much of an advantage."

"If he is afraid to fight, I will agree to use only my left hand and I am not even left-handed," he added, signing off as "Elona".

Musk has been supportive of Ukraine and earlier sent Starlink terminals to the war-hit country to keep internet services running.
