New Delhi: It's not known if he believed in luck before, but after what happened with him at the at the base camp of Spantik peak of Karakoram range in Pakistan, this mountaineer will definitely start doing so.


A video recently shared on Instagram shows how a mountaineer had a miraculous escape after a heavy piece of rock rolled down the hill, missing him by a whisker.


The video is actually from 2018, but is being shared widely now and has garnered over 30,000 views on Instagram.  


The visuals show the Spantik base camp where mountaineers have pitched their tents. Two climbers can be seen walking around when a heavy stone rolls down the hill in high speed. One of the mountaineers had a narrow escape as he was almost on the rock's path as it passed by him. 


Sharing the video on Instagram, user itshimalayas posted: "The real rolling stone! A flying kiss of death at the base camp of a 7,000m peak (Spantik) in Pakistan in 2018."


The handle, popular with trekking enthusiasts, asked other mountaineers to share similar stories of a close shave on the hills. "Who doesn’t believe in luck? Tag them!" the post read.

The Spantik peak in Karakoram is 7,000 metres high, and is located in the Nagar district of Gilgit-Baltistan region in Pakistan.


Climbers usually begin their expedition from Skardu in Baltistan. After reaching the base camp, they go through an acclimatisation process, before starting their trek towards the summit.
