New Delhi: As tremendous celebrations commemorated the monarch's 70 years on the reign, Queen Elizabeth II shared her love of marmalade sandwiches with Paddington Bear, a beloved fictional character.
In an unexpected on-screen cameo that reminded fans of the 2012 Olympics video in which she joined Daniel Craig as James Bond, the Queen's lighter side came to the fore once more.
A nervous Paddington attended a tea party with the Queen, sitting opposite from her and serving tea in the pre-recorded video sketch.
"Perhaps, you would like a marmalade sandwich. I always keep one for emergencies," he said while pulling one out of his red hat.
The Queen's response surprised the beloved children's book and film character, voiced by British actor Ben Whishaw.
"So do I. I keep mine here...for later," the Queen replied with a smile as she too took a sandwich out of her purse.
In awe, Paddington looked at the Queen, wished her a happy jubilee and thanked her "for everything."
A scene outside showed a big gathering and bands playing in honour of the Queen.
In a tweet after his appearance in the video, the character of Paddington tweeted: "If we're kind and polite, the world will be right. Thank you."
Interestingly, Paddington Bear films were voiced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ukrainian during his entertainment career.
Aside from her annual Christmas messages, the Queen appears in occasional videos like such. In 2012, she appeared in a video with Daniel Craig as James Bond for the opening of the London Olympics. Playing his character as the secret service agent, escorted the Queen in a helicopter and parachuted (carried out by stunt doubles) into London's Olympic stadium.
Last week, Queen Elizabeth stepped onto the Buckingham Palace balcony drawing wild cheers from thousands of her well-wishers who came to join her to mark the start of the four-day celebrations of her 70 years on the throne.
