Cops sometimes have to face peculiar situations while on duty. In some cases these incidents are bizarre and funny just like the one faced by the Alabama police department recently. The Alabama city took to Facebook to share the unusual pursuit that took place in the Alberta neighbourhood after they received a call about a small pony on the loose in the area.

A call came into the department about the animal around 10 pm after which the police decided to investigate and catch the pony. But the perpetrator led them on a 'low-speed foot pursuit' for nearly 2 hours.

The officers tried to pet the pony by offering pizza crusts and peppermints, but the pony, who was dubbed "Ginuwine" by the police department, wasn’t interested.

However, the officers didn't give up and after  2 hours of long chase  the pony was  found around 30th Avenue East and First Street East.

"If you live around 30th Avenue East and First Street East, that was us causing all the commotion last night. We received a call about a small pony hanging out in the Alberta neighborhood around 10 p.m. He was extremely unwilling to go with the officers at first, and not at all interested in the pizza crusts or peppermints they offered," wrote the  Tuscaloosa Police Department on thier Facebook page.

"We're not sure of his name, so we're calling him Ginuwine for now. Three officers engaged in a low-speed foot pursuit, following Ginuwine up and down driveways and through people's backyards for nearly two hours. He eventually allowed himself to be caught, and was happy to get pets and pose for selfies," they added.

"Grateful the officers were persistent! Thank you for all you do!," wrote one user after seeing the post.

"This pony must have had moves like the original Ginuwine to get away from police for so long. Hopefully his owners will come forward soon," wrote another user.

"Engaged in a low-speed foot persuit" "he eventually allowed himself to be caught" You know he was laughing at them," wrote a third.

"I wouldn’t have went either if you offered me pizza crust and peppermints when he knew y’all were withholding the doughnuts,' wrote a fourth.
