New Delhi: In a dramatic incident, a leopard and a cat were trapped inside a well they had fallen into for hours before the Nashik forest department rescued them unharmed on Tuesday.

The video clip which was shared on Twitter by news agency ANI, shows the incident when the two cat family mammals came face-to-face after the leopard fell in the well while chasing the cat

Once trapped, the survival instincts of the felines kicked in and they made getting out of the well their top priority. Even though, the cat was well within the reach of the leopard it didn't harm the cat. The wild beast was seen perched precariously on a ledge, while the cat swam around.

In the clip, the leopard is once seen trying to confront the cat, which was initially afraid but stood its ground by balancing on its two legs, leaving the wild cat confused.

The cat can also be seen jumping on the leopard’s back trying to find a way out of the well but failed.

As per Times of India, a farmer noticed the animals inside the well and called police and the forest department. People heard splashing sounds and were surprised by the sight of the domestic cat and the wild leopard in the same space.

According to TOI, the forest officials reached within an hour and started their rescue operation. The female leopard, about 2.5 years old, managed to sit up on a narrow platform in the well, however, the cat couldn't find a proper place to sit.

The cat was extricated in a basket, while a cage was lowered into the well to bring the leopard out. The wild cat was taken to the Mohdari Malegaon forest park.
