New Delhi: Owing to the covid-19 pandemic many people quit their jobs during the first and second waves, while many others were laid off by the companies.
Sharing its list of Top-10 job searches, Google Search data discloses that during this pandemic phase most people were interested in starting their own businesses, or a job that doesn’t require a boss.
News agency IANS quoting Google shared that even though the phenomenon of the ‘Great Resignation’ 2021 was majorly an American thing, Google search trends suggest that people across the globe quit their jobs during the pandemic.
The top five countries where the search for “how to leave your job” on Google was done are the Philippines, South Africa, USA, Australia, and the UK, according to Google data.
"Month after month, a record number of people put their tools away, shut their laptops, took off their badges, handed in their two week's notice or simply walked out the door and didn't go back," said Jennifer Kutz, Search trends expert as reported by IANS.

In India, The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has revealed that 32% of the staff employed in the organised sector of the industry had lost their job by October 2021. This means that 23 lakh restaurant workers out of the total 75 lakh, had lost their jobs, reveals Business Times.
The pandemic has majorly impacted the job market with uncertainty looming around it. Though the demand has increased in certain sectors like healthcare, a majority of sectors have faced huge losses which forced them to cut costs and remove employees.
