Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has shared a video on Instagram in which his father and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was seen playing badminton, months after he underwent a kidney transplant surgery.
The video is accompanied by background music of the iconic Bollywood retro song 'Dhal Gaya Din Ho Gayi Shaam'. In the short video, Lalu Yadav appeared to be energetic and all smiles as he hits the shuttle over the net.
The post by Tejashwi Yadav carried a caption, "Didn't learn to fear, didn't learn to bow down. Has fought, will fight, will not be afraid of jail and will win in the end." Lalu Yadav is facing several legal battles related to the land-for-jobs scam and fodder scam.
Lalu Yadav is serving jail sentences in a number of fodder scam cases, however, he is currently out on bail on medical grounds.
The former Chief Minister of Bihar underwent kidney transplantation surgery in Singapore last year and was away from his home for seven months. The 75-year-old leader was suffering from acute kidney complications. One of his daughters, Rohini, donated the kidney to Lalu Yadav. The transplant was done on December 5, 2022.
Earlier this month, the RJD supremo attended the opposition meeting in Bengaluru and exuded confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would be ousted in the 2024 general elections. He said that the BJP was slowly getting weakened and would get finished.
In the Bengaluru meeting, the Opposition decided to name their front INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). The next round of deliberations will be held in Mumbai. An 11-member committee will be set up for coordination among the Opposition parties.
In their joint resolution, the parties vowed to defeat the "hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities" as well as "rising crimes against women, Dalits, tribals and Kashmiri Pandits".
