Success tales in the face of adversity are always a source of motivation. And for today's instalment of inspiring stories, this tale of a Gujarati bureaucrat takes the cake. After a snapshot of his class 10 marksheet was circulated on Twitter, Tushar Sumera, the Collector of Bharuch in Gujarat, earned the admiration of netizens.
Taking to Twitter, IAS officer Awanish Sharan said, "Bharuch Collector Tushar Sumera, while sharing his class 10th marksheet, wrote that he got only passing marks in class 10th. He got 35 marks in English, 36 in maths and 38 in science out of his 100. Not only in the whole village but in that school it was said that they cannot do anything."
The tweet, which was posted by IAS officer Awanish Sharan, included two photos. Sumera's marksheet, which indicated the grades he received on his board examinations, was shown by one of them. Mathematics received a score of 36 out of 100, while English received a score of 35! Can you picture it? Sumera sat proudly in his office in the other photograph.
The post has received over 17.4k likes and several comments. In today's culture, the rat race to achieve high grades in the hopes of getting into a top institution has left the generation emotionally drained. That is why Sumera's inspiring life story has touched the hearts of internet users.
On the micro-blogging site, Tushar Sumera has also written a thank you note for Sharan.
Tushar Sumera joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2012. He earned his bachelor's degree in arts and worked as a schoolteacher before passing the UPSC test.
