Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday asserted that the country will be free from the menace of Naxalism in the next three years. While addressing the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)’s 60th Raising Day in Assams's Tezpur, Shah asserted, "In the next three years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country will be 100 per cent free from the Naxal problem," reported news agency PTI.


Amit Shah heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that his mission of bringing peace and development in the northeast has been successful.


As per news agency ANI, speaking on the role of the SSB in eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Home Minister said, "In Jammu and Kashmir, the SSB has laid down their lives while fighting together with the CRPF, BSF, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army against terrorists."


Notably, Amit Shah also highlighted that the government released a postal stamp to mark the occasion of the 60th Raising Day of SSB.


Shah further added, "Today on the occasion of the 60th Raising Day of Sashatra Seema Bal, the Government of India also released a postal stamp. It will keep the SSB's devotion to duty alive in front of the people of the country forever."


Shah lauded Sashastra Seema Bal and said, "Among all the central armed police forces, SSB plays a unique role in minutely integrating culture, history, topography and language” of the border villages, and bringing people in those areas closer to the rest of the country. Besides guarding the borders, the SSB along with other CAPFs have performed their duties effectively against the Naxals in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand".

Congress Has Policy To Divert Attention From Problems And Enjoy Power: Amit Shah In Assam


Taking a a dig at the Congress party, at the 13th Triennial Conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha, Shah said, "Congress had a policy to divert attention from problems and enjoy power, which led to the deaths of thousands of people in the region particularly in the Bodoland", reported PTI.


PM Modi also viewed it from a new perspective and the problem was resolved with Bodoland “today being free from bomb blasts, firing and violence”, Shah said. During the last three years, there has been no incident of violence in Bodoland, and it is scripting a new story by walking on the path of development, Shah further added.


The Home Minister presented awards for exemplary service to six SSB personnel along with trophies to three battalions, besides releasing a postage stamp on the occasion. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present at the event.
