A massive landslide on Thursday washed away a major stretch of a highway in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The highway between Hunli and Anini, which was hit by the landslide, is a crucial one as it connects the Dibang Valley in the state to the rest of the country.

In the video of the landslide which has surfaced online, a huge stretch of the highway can be seen missing, disrupting the connectivity with the valley.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, took to X and wrote about the landslide incident saying, "Disturbed to learn the inconvenience being casued to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini."

He further said that the concerned authorties have been directed to restore the connectivity at the earliest since the road connects the Dibang valley to the rest of the country.

74% Voter Turnout Recorded In Repolling In Arunachal Pradesh

Following reports of violence on April 19 during phase one polling, eight polling stations across four assembly constituencies in Arunchal Pradesh went for repolling on Wednesday. An estimated 74 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the repolling that was amid elaborate security arrangements.

A female police personnel can be seen returning to headquarters by crossing the Kameng River on a traditional bamboo bridge in East Kameng District after successfully conducting the repolling in the state.

Election Commission had ordered repolling in Longte Loth in the Nyapin segment in Kurung Kumey, Sario under the Bameng assembly constituency in East Kameng district, and Bogne and Molom booths under the Rumgong seat in Siang.

Besides these, repolling was also carrid out at Dingser, Bogiya Siyum, Jimbari and Lengi under the Nacho constituency.
