Violent protest over the death of two youths in Manipur continued till early hours of Thursday as a mob vandalised the office of deputy commissioner in Imphal West and two four-wheelers, said the officials as per a PTI report. A fresh bout of violence erupted on Tuesday, this time led by students, in the state capital after a photo of bodies of the two youths who went missing in July went viral on social media, according to a PTI report.
On Wednesday night, the protestors clashed with security personnel in Uripok, Yaiskul, Sagolband and Tera areas, prompting the forces to fire several rounds of tear gas shells to control the situation, officials said.
In order to prevent security officials from entering the residential areas, the protestors blocked roads with burning tyres, boulders, and iron pipes.
A mob also vandalised the DC office and torched two four-wheelers, said the officials, adding that the situation was brought under control by CRPF personnel.

Following the violent protest curfew was reimposed in the two districts — Imphal East and West — as the security forces combated against the agitators with 65 demonstrators being injured since Tuesday.
A Bharatiya Janata Party office at Khongjom in Thoubal district was set on fire, police said.
The Manipur Police, in a statement, said that a police vehicle was targeted and torched by the protestors and assaulted a policeman snatching his weapon. The police said it will take stern action against those indulged in such crimes, adding that a search operation has been launched to recover the snatched arms and arrest of the accused.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights urged the security forces to not use lathi charge tear gas shells and rubber bullets "arbitrarily and abruptly" against teenagers.
