New Delhi: The world renowned fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld passed away on Tuesday, February 19, leaving a deep dent in the fashion industry.  Karl was 85 years old and was battling a prolonged illness.


The fashion designer was the creative director of the iconic “Chanel”.

Recently he was not able to greet the audience at the end of a Chanel fashion show in Paris because he was feeling tired.

The fashion designer was popular across the globe for his trademark white hair and black sunglasses, fingerless gloves and high starched collars.

He was the creative director of French luxury fashion house Chanel since 1983. He was also the creative director of the Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi and his own eponymous fashion level.

He was known by his nicknames "Kaiser Karl" and "Fashion Meister".

Lagerfeld was born in Hamburg in 1933. He made his debut with designer Pierre Balmain as an apprentice before moving on to Patou and Chloe and then Italian brand Fendi.
