Texas Park Shooting: At least two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday night. The incident occurred at Old Settlers Park during an event attended by a large crowd, according to Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks, CNN reported.


The altercation erupted between the two groups, culminating in gunfire. "Someone produced a gun and began to fire," Chief Banks said during a news conference, as quoted by CNN's report. As a result, multiple victims were struck. Officers present at the event promptly responded and administered aid.


As of early Sunday morning, no suspects were in custody, and it remained unclear how many individuals were involved in the shooting. "This is an ongoing investigation," Banks stated, adding that no further details about the injured had been disclosed.

Texas Park Shooting: 6 People, Including 2 Children, Sent To Local Trauma Facilities


However, Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed that first responders had transported six people, including two children, to local trauma facilities, all with potentially serious injuries, the report stated.


Reflecting on the tragedy, Chief Banks expressed his sorrow: "It breaks your heart for a family that was coming out to enjoy their evening and now their life is forever changed as a result of somebody who could care less about somebody else’s life and that’s so disappointing."


Videos on social media showed police presence at the spot of shooting.






The Juneteenth Festival at Old Settlers Park, organised by the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department, featured musical performances by various artists. Round Rock is situated approximately 20 miles north of Austin.


In light of the shooting, Chief Banks announced that Old Settlers Park would remain closed throughout Sunday morning, which coincides with Father’s Day.
