New Delhi: The United States is providing Ukraine with supplies and equipment in case Russia deploys chemical or biological weapons in its invasion of Ukraine, said the White House on Friday, reported news agency Reuters.
The supplies were being provided to the government of Ukraine in light of warnings from the United States and other countries that Russia could deploy such weapons and might be planning a “false flag” operation to lay the groundwork for such an attack, said White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, stated the news agency.
The White House has although not provided any evidence that Russia has been planning any such attack. A senior US defence official had said last week that there had been no concrete indications of an imminent chemical or biological attack on Ukraine.
The Kremlin has accused Ukraine of preparing to attack with chemical weapons which has been refuted as a lie by the United States saying that Russia might be preparing to do so.

The report further stated that White House has constituted a team of experts to chalk out a plan if Russia does use weapons of mass destruction — chemical, biological or nuclear — Reuters had quoted senior administration officials as saying.
The European Union has also launched an operation to stockpile its defences against chemical, nuclear and biological incidents amid concerns over conflict in Ukraine, the above mentioned Reuters report stated quoting EU documents and people familiar with the matter.
