A report by the Indian Express says that 38 states voted for the same political party in presidential elections from 2000 to 2016. It is therefore easier to predict the outcome of these states. But the remaining 12 states have kept changing loyalties and therefore these places haves the decision-making power during the elections.
Swing states are determined by the shift in ideologies. This year according to media reports Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and North Carolina maybe be significant in determining who becomes the president in 2020. Even in the last election in 2016, Hillary Clinton was supposed to be the next president but when the swing states took the results in favour of Donald Trump.
In early trends today Trump has secured a lead in swing states, Florida and Georgia. After lagging behind, Trump's tally at the time of writing improved to 115 electoral votes as against 129 of Biden. This is has raised speculations for a second term for Trump despite trends showing an overall lead by Joe Biden.
