New Delhi: US President Donald Trump who found himself at the receiving end of a ridicule after his speech at the United Nations elicited a laughter response from the world leaders attending the summit, has said that the UN was not laughing at him.

The US President said that the UN was not laughing at him but was laughing with him.

When Trump was giving his speech at the annual United Nations General Assembly, he started boasting about his government’s achievements. His address apparently took the shape of a campaign speech ahead of November’s Congressional elections. At the international podium Trump started to brag about how in less than two years his administration has accomplished more than any administration in the history of US.

The assembled dignitaries from around the world, began to chuckle at Trump’s speech. Trump then interrupted his speech and said “So true”, after which the laughter became louder.

Trump smiled and said, “I did not expect that reaction but that is okay.”

Soon after the incident, headlines had emerged about the world laughing at Trump. But on Wednesday Trump said he simply connected with an audience not known for levity.

Later Trump said that he was just having a good time with the world leaders. Addressing media persons in New York he said they had fun."They weren't laughing at me, they were laughing with me," he said. "People had a good time with me."
