Dubai Rain: Streets, Tarmac Flooded By Downpour In UAE, Over A Dozen Flights Cancelled

Dubai Rain: Heavy rains in the UAE have caused flooding, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay indoors. Dubai International Airport has experienced flight cancellations and delays due to the weather.

Dubai Rain: UAE residents have been urged to remain indoors as heavy rains lash the region, leading to flooded streets and road collapses. The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has issued a directive advising residents to venture out only in cases of extreme necessity. This advisory came as the weather bureau predicted intensified unstable weather conditions, Khaleej Times reported.

"This is the second stay-home advisory issued by the authorities in two months," noted a spokesperson for NCEMA, after a March advisory was prompted by similarly unpredictable weather conditions.

Purported videos circulating on social media depict inundated roads, water seepage in buildings, and even flooded airport tarmacs.

In light of the adverse weather, schools have swiftly transitioned to online learning, and government employees have been instructed to work remotely on Tuesday and Wednesday. Motorists are advised to park their vehicles in safe, elevated locations away from flood-prone areas to avoid potential dangers.

According to a Gulf News report, Dubai International Airport has reported disruptions to its operations, with 17 flights cancelled and several others delayed or diverted due to severe weather conditions.

Dubai Airports assured passengers of ongoing efforts to minimise inconvenience, stating, "We are actively collaborating with our service partners and airlines to minimise any inconvenience experienced by our valued guests."

Flydubai, one of the affected carriers, acknowledged the impact of adverse weather on its flight schedule and reassured passengers of efforts to mitigate disruptions, the report stated. Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways also advised travellers to plan accordingly, warning of potential delays caused by the weather.

"We urge guests to check directly with their airline to obtain the latest information on the status of their flight, allow extra travel time to the airport, and use Dubai Metro for smoother transit," added the statement from Etihad Airways, as quoted by Gulf News.
