New Delhi: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday adjourned a hearing on a plea by Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, seeking suspension of his conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case. However, it did say that Khan’s petition would be fixed for regular hearing within the next four to five days, news agency PTI reported.
Imran Khan, who is currently lodged in Attock Jail, had filed a petition at the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday, seeking his conviction and three-year prison sentence in the corruption case be suspended.
According to the report, Imran Khan's lawyer Khawaja Haris said the trial court announced its verdict without allowing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief to plead the case. He asked the court to suspend the sentence and take up the matter for hearing from Thursday.

"The decision of the trial court in the Toshakhana case is against the law," PTI quoted the lawyer as saying as he sought the verdict to be annulled.
However, Chief Justice Farooq, after hearing the arguments, refused to suspend Khan’s conviction and said that the plea would be fixed for a regular hearing within the next four to five days. The Chief Justice also issued notices to the parties concerned.
Meanwhile, hearing a different plea about shifting Imran Khan to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, the Islamabad High Court asked the authorities to apprise it who ordered to keep the PTI chief at Attock jail instead of Adiala as directed by the sessions court.
He also asked the federal and Punjab governments to file their replies by August 11 on Imran Khan’s petition seeking transfer from Attock Jail to Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, PTI reported.
The hearing was adjourned till August 11.
