Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) leaders' summit, had an awkward moment when he was not able to get hold of his earpiece, used for interpretation purposes.


The incident happened when the Pakistan Prime Minister was gearing up for a discussion with Putin. As the meeting commenced, his earpiece kept falling off. In the video that has gone viral, Pakistan PM Sharif can be seen struggling to put on his earpiece as he ultimately calls out for someone for help.

Sharif termed his meetings at Samarkand as productive.


“In my meetings with leaders of our friendly countries, we agreed on enhancing trade & investment. I explained the flood ravages due to climate change. Food & energy shortages present a real challenge to our shared development agenda,” Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.

The SCO meeting comes after the monsoon rains submerged a third of Pakistan claiming more than a thousand lives since June and unleashing powerful floods that have impacted vital crops and damaged or destroyed more than a million homes.


Uzbekistan is the current chair of SCO 2022 and India will assume the annual rotational presidency of the SCO at the end of the Samarkand Summit.


The SCO meeting is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan after almost two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. The last two meetings in 2021 and 2022 were held virtually and hosted by Tajikistan and Russia respectively.
