The Pakistan Student Federation (PSF) has given an ultimatum to the government to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan by August 30. The demand came after a successful student-led protest in Bangladesh, which seems to have instilled similar feelings among the youths in Pakistan.


The PSF has cautioned that if their demands are not met, there will be a nationwide protest, intensifying the current political tensions in the country.


Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) To Launch Rally End Of August


According to news agency PTI, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also announced on August 6 that they would hold a massive rally in Islamabad by the end of this month to demand his release. The announcement came after a significant rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, marking one year since Khan was jailed.

On Monday, PTI held a rally in Swabi district, where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, party chairman Gohar Ali Khan, and Secretary General Omar Ayub addressed the attendees. Chief Minister Gandapur declared that the former cricketer-turned-politician, as the leader of the nation's largest party, could no longer be kept in jail.


He announced plans for a major upcoming rally in Islamabad’s D Chowk, asserting that no authority could prevent them. "Khan stood firm on what he believed in. He is taking steps to secure the future of the country and its children," Gandapur stated.


He highlighted the dedication of Khan to ensuring the nation does not bow to anyone, emphasising the significance of true freedom. "If we do not achieve this objective, history and the nation will not forgive us. We raise our voices and promise to support Khan till the last drop of our blood," he added, PTI reported.


Gandapur assured supporters that PTI would eliminate terrorism if they came to power and criticised current government officials for fostering lawlessness.  "We will fight until true freedom is achieved. In today's meeting, the views of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman have shown that he is only thinking about the country," he said.






Imran Khan, who was arrested on August 5 last year, was initially held at Attock Jail before being transferred to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. He faces over 200 cases and has been convicted in a few.
