New Delhi: Jailed former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif was reportedly jeered at by the inmates, triggering security concerns in the jail authorities.
As the former PM was taking a stroll in the jail premises some prisoners raised anti-PML-N slogans. Concerns about Sharif’s security inside the jail was raised after this, as many criminals including radical terrorists are also lodged in the same jail... As per Dawn reports, the jail authorities are reluctant to keep Nawaz Sharif in the premises due to the presence of high-profile inmates here - many of whom are hardened and radical terrorists.
As per reports, his lawyer previously stated that Sharif has been kept devoid of basic facilities- he reportedly has a ramshackle toilet and now a possible risk to his life is feared.
Sharif is sentenced to ten years in prison in a disproportionate assets case. He has been lodged at the jail in Rawalpindi instead of a rest house in Islamabad where high-profile political figures have previously spent jail sentences.
It is now reportedly being considered to move Sharif from the jail.
