Pakistan Made Every Effort To Get Taliban On Dialogue Table: Imran Khan In Tashkent

Addressing the ‘Central-South Asia Conference’ in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister said no other nation has tried harder to get Taliban on the dialogue table than Pakistan.

Tashkent: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Islamabad has made every effort to get the Taliban on the dialogue table. Addressing the ‘Central-South Asia Conference’ in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister said no other nation has tried harder to get the Taliban on the dialogue table than Pakistan.

“I can assure you that no country has tried harder to get Taliban on the dialogue table than Pakistan...We have made every effort to get them on the dialogue table and have a peaceful settlement there,” he said.

The Pakistan Prime Minister, however, dodged questions posed by ANI on whether Pakistan is controlling the Taliban. When asked ‘can talks and terror go hand in hand’, Khan attempted to play safe and took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in India.

“We have been waiting for long that we live as civilized nations but what do we do as the RSS ideology has come in between,” he said sarcastically.

The two-day high-level meeting began earlier on Thursday in the capital city of Tashkent to discuss the 'challenges and opportunities in Uzbekistan'.

Around 250 participants and 40 delegates from different countries are taking part in the discussion.

The conference is titled “The International Conference on Central and South Asia Regional Connectivity, Challenges and Opportunities”.
