New Delhi: An official of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi got involved in an altercation with an Indian woman at a market place in the city on Sunday.

The women took the diplomat to a nearby police station and lodged a complaint against him. No formal arrest, however, was made since he was a diplomat. The police officials let off the diplomat after he apologised to the woman. Sources in the government also confirmed that there was no arrest.

On the other hand, Pakistan government sources, while claiming the man was arrested, protested this "alleged violation" of the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations and added that it reserved the right to respond.

More details are awaited in the matter
