NEW DELHI: Former Member of Parliament and Bollywood actress Jaya Prada was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal on Tuesday.


In the Nepal Parliament, a unanimous resolution was passed which appointment of Jaya Prada Goodwill Ambassador.

Earlier, when she was nominated, the move was expected to further strengthen the age-old cultural ties between the two neighbours and help in promoting Nepal's tourism in India.

Earlier, new agency PTI had said that the appointment is for a period of four years. Tourism is an important source of revenue and employment generation in Nepal. India is the biggest source market for Nepal tourism.

The Nepal government has also decided to observe the year 2020 as the 'Visit Nepal Year' and has set a target of attracting two million international visitors.
