PM Modi In Bangladesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh to attend Golden Jubilee celebrations of independence and the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In order to show the enhanced good relations between India and Bangladesh, PM Modi wrote an Op-Ed in Bangladesh daily newspaper The Daily Star ahead of his visit. In the Op-Ed by the Indian Prime Minister, he highlighted the contribution of ‘Bangabandhu’.
"India and Bangladesh were able to finally overcome the complications of history through the 2015 Land Boundary Agreement. It was a historic moment in the history of modern nation-states. But had Bangabandhu been at the helm longer, this achievement may have come much earlier," PM Modi wrote in The Daily Star.
While he was all praises for Sheikh Mujibur Rahman also known as Bangladesh's 'Father of the Nation' during the function of National Day Celebrations, PM Modi also wore "Mujib Jacket" honouring the tall leader of the neighbouring nation.
The custom-designed Mujib Jacket was supplied by the state-run Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). “Mujib jacket is an immensely popular outfit in Bangladesh. For the older generation, Mujib Jacket is symbolic of the ideology of their great leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while it has increasingly become a fashion statement for the youths of Bangladesh," said KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena who supplied around 100 Mujib Jackets to Indian dignitaries ahead of PM Modi's Bangladesh visit.
March 26 marks the last day of 10-day celebrations on the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman.
