2500 Year Old Mummy Unsealed: We all have must have seen Stephen Sommers’ popular directorial masterpiece ‘The Mummy’ and many of us are certainly not the fans of how opening a coffin ends up! A real-life video of a group of archaeologists opening over thousand years old coffin has been going viral on the internet and has spooked the netizens.


The video clip that has been doing rounds on social media features archaeologists in Egypt unsealing the first of the total 59 mummies that were discovered inside the burial wells in Saqqara’s archaeological area.

Greg Lewis, New zealand’s Ambassador to Egypt , who was present at the event, tweeted the video of he new tomb of mummies that has been  discovered. He said he was a witness to a mummy coffin being opened for the first time in 2600 years.


Though discovery of tombs and coffins isn’t a novelty in Egypt, but for the netizens it was something very rare. As per reports, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism had said in its presser that initially 3 wells with 13 coffins were discovered, which was followed by 14 other wells with coffins, thus bringing the total count of coffins discovered so far to 59.
