Mehul Choksi's Rumoured Girlfriend Refutes Abduction Claims, Reveals Cuba Was His Final Destination

Running her own business Barbara Jarabica clarified she is not his girlfriend, and she does not "need cash or support, hotel booking, fake jewellery or anything like that"

New Delhi: Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi's capture in Dominica after he tried to flee Antigua and Barbuda, is turning out to be an interesting plot of a movie after his rumoured girlfriend Barbara Jarabica revealed their relationship status while throwing light into the abduction theory.

In his letter to Antigua Police, Mehul Choksi claimed being abducted from the home of Barbara Jarabica and taken to Dominica on a boat. Barbara Jarabica has now come out openly about this entire alleged abduction claims and divulged information about his plan of visiting Cuba.

In an interview with the news agency ANI, Jarabica said: “He (Mehul Choksi) never used a word like an escape. But he did ask me twice if I have ever been to Cuba. He also told me that next time we may meet in Cuba. He never explained his escaping plan but I'm certain, I don't think that Dominica was his final destination.”

“But if you ask my opinion, I can be more and more certain that Cuba could have been his (Mehul Choksi) final destination & somehow he wanted to stop by in Dominica maybe,” Jabarica told ANI.

She has refuted the claims of abduction saying, “No one contacted me. There was no sign of abduction & I said in other interviews, for people who know Jolly Harbour area, it's impossible to kidnap anyone there, in the safest place, family area: Barbara Jabarica to ANI, on if any Indian besides Mehul Choksi, was in touch with her.”

On her relationship with the Fugitive diamantaire, Mehul Choksi Jabarica said, “I'd like to clarify, I made this clear in a few interviews that I was not his girlfriend & he's not my sugar daddy or anything like that. I've my own income & business. I don't need his cash or support, hotel booking, fake jewellery or anything like that.”

Barbara Jarabica, who is a European has been knowing Mehul Choksi since last Aug and as per the claim, she had met him in Jolly Harbour while renting Airbnb accommodation near his house. “He introduced himself as Raj. B/w Aug to April he was always texting me but b/w Aug to April, I replied to him once a month,” said Jabarica.

She claims that closer to the date, like April-May this year the couple had weekly conversations, where mostly they conversed about opportunities to do business together. But when she was on the island in April-May then they had daily conversations.

While claiming that she was not aware of his identity, Jabarica said, “I saw all these pictures, I can see how he looked before and I think he lost a lot of weight and he looks very different. I don’t think someone is walking in the Caribbean on a holiday and he would spot out that he is Mehul Choksi that I read in Indian news.”
