In the latest show of solidarity towards Ellen DeGeneres, comedian Kevin Hart joined in Katy Perry by taking to photo-sharing platform Instagram and defended the popular American television personality amid a huge controversy that has blown up over what has been alleged as toxic environment on her talk show.


DeGeneres remains one of the most well known and popular presenters on American television circles. The actor-cum TV host who has been alleged of bullying and intimidating junior staff on the sets of his show now faces resistance to quit the popular daytime chat. Since the controversy broke, DeGeneres apologised according to CarrickHearld, and said she is “committed to ensuring this does not happen again”. Warner Bros also said it would make staffing changes.

Comedian Kevin Hart shared a public message in support of DeGeneres emphasising the internet has “become a crazy world of negativity”.

The Jumanji star wrote on Instagram: “It’s crazy to see my friend go thru what she’s going thru publicly. I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the f****** planet.


Meanwhile, Singer Katy Perry also supported the TV host. The pop star, who is expecting her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, said she was sending the chat show host “love & a hug”.


DeGeneres’s wife, Portia De Rossi, also posted a picture to Instagram stating: “I stand by Ellen” and wrote in the caption: “To all our fans… we see you. Thank you for your support.”

She tweeted: “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought the world through her platform for decades.”

The veteran actor hosted the self-titled show since 2003, and much regarded for her bubbly on-screen traits and for “be kind” mantra. She often participates in lavish giveaways and charity.
