Joe Biden, who is all set to take oath as the 46th President of the United States, would likely sign 15 executive orders hours after being sworn-in. Besides undoing some of the major policies of his predecessor Donald Trump, the executive orders would include rejoining the Paris climate agreement, reversing the Muslim ban and a 100-day mask mandate.


PTI quoted incoming White House officials as saying that Biden will take historic action on day one to advance his agenda, adding his first presidential actions would also include sending a comprehensive bill on immigration to the Congress.

In addition to an eight-year pathway to illegal immigrants, the immigration bill proposes to remove the per-country cap for employment-based green cards. This move would be of immense benefit to the Indian IT professionals in the US, whose current wait period for legal permanent residency runs into several decades.


“Biden will continue to take action over the next 10 days — and over his entire time in office — to address the four crises that he's laid out,” PTI quoted incoming White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki as saying.

The new President will also sign executive orders, memoranda, directives and letters to take initial steps to address the novel  COVID-19 pandemic, providing economic relief, tackling climate change and advancing racial equity, officials said.


Biden is also likely to issue an executive order requiring masks and physical distancing in all federal buildings, on all federal lands and by federal employees and contractors.


He will sign an executive order to create the position of COVID-19 Response Coordinator, who will be responsible for coordinating all elements of the COVID-19 response across the government.

The new President, officials said, will also sign the instrument to rejoin the Paris accord besides an executive order that takes critical first steps to address the climate crisis, create good union jobs and advance environmental justice.


Repealing Trump’s proclamations, he will sign an executive action, thereby putting an end to the Muslim Ban.


Officials said Biden will issue a presidential memorandum withdrawing the regulatory process executive orders of his predecessor’s administration to remove the needless obstacles to regulating in the public's interest.


Meanwhile, Biden ahead of taking oath tweeted, “It’s a new day in America’. Alongside Biden, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will also take the oath.
