Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been transferred to a secure location as a security measure following the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. Khamenei has been moved to a place with heightened security measures inside the country.
Hassan Nasrallah was killed in a targeted strike by Israel on south Beirut on Friday. The Iran-backed group is yet to issue any statement on Nasrallah's status, who has been its leader for 32 years.
According to news agency Reuters, Iran was in constant contact with Lebanon's Hezbollah and other regional groups to decide the next step after Israel announced that it had killed Hezbollah chief.
Khamenei had called an emergency meeting of Iran's Supreme National Security Council at his home on Friday, The New York Times reported, citing two Iranian officials.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the Hezbollah leader Nasrallah was killed during a targeted airstrike on the group's underground headquarters located under a residential building in Dahiyeh, which is a Hezbollah- controlled suburb of Beirut.
"Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world," IDF wrote on X. Israel also shared a flow chart of Hezbollah's Military chain of command and marked its leaders that it had killed as "eliminated".
Earlier today, Israel had also claimed that it eliminated Muhammad Ali Ismail, the Commander of Hezbollah's Missile Unit in southern Lebanon, and his deputy, Hussein Ahmad Ismail, in a "precise IAF strike".
"This follows the elimination of the terrorist Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, Head of Hezbollah's Missiles and Rockets Force, as well as other senior commanders of this unit," IDF stated.
The Israeli military said in a statement that the strike was conducted while the "Hezbollah's senior chain of command was operating from the headquarters and advancing terrorist activities against Israel".
Israel continued its airstrikes on Dahiyeh and other parts of Lebanon on Saturday.
The recent developments come after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday, wherein he said that Israel would continue "degrading Hezbollah" until it achieves its goals along Lebanon border.
