New Delhi: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said PM Imran Khan is involved in ‘conspiracy’ against the nation and guilty of high treason, asserting that those who are a part of this should be tried for desecrating the Constitution.

Sharif’s statement comes in the light of President Arif Alvi approving the advice of PM Khan to dissolve the national Assembly.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Sharif wrote, “Today, a man obsessed with power trampled the Constitution.”

Sharif, who is also the leader of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) said that Khan and all others involved in this ‘conspiracy’ should be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution, adding that anyone found guilty of any wrongdoing with the country will be taken to task, said a report by The Express Tribune.

Sharif is currently in London for medical treatment on expired bail.

The younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz, said that Article 6 is now applicable to “Imran Niazi and his followers for openly violating the Constitution.”

Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan said that the Opposition parties seemed taken aback after the deputy speaker of National Assembly blocked their move to overthrow the government through a no-confidence vote.

“I want to remind you all that I told you yesterday evening that don't panic… the Opposition still wondering as to what happened to them,” the premier said while addressing the leaders of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party after a day of dramatic political developments.
