New Delhi: The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues for the 34th day. Efforts are on to establish peace between the two countries. The United Nations (UN) is also making efforts to end the war.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday said he is in close contact with countries, including India, Turkey, China, and Israel, over mediation efforts toward ending Russia's escalation in Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched military action against Ukraine on February 24. Guterres told reporters: "I am in close contact with many countries that are talking at the highest level on both sides to explore different ways of mediation for a political solution."
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres added: "I have been in very close contact with my Turkish friends. Similarly, I have been in close contact with India as well as with Qatar, Israel, China, France, and Germany. I believe that all these efforts are necessary to create the conditions to end this war. When asked if all those countries were supporting his effort, Antonio Guterres said, "I hope so."
Last week, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters and discussed the situation in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.
Russian troops have been attacking different cities in Ukraine since February 24. Many cities in Ukraine have been devastated by the Russian attack. Millions of people have migrated.
