Hamas and Hezbollah on Monday expressed their condolences on the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. In its statement, Hamas hailed Raisi's "support fo Palestinian resistance and tireless efforts in solidarity with Palestinians". Hezbollah on the other hand called the Iranian President a "protector of resistance movements".





The militant group Hamas, stated that it appreciated Raisi and foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who was also killed in the chopper crash, for their "intense political and diplomatic efforts to stop the Zionist (Israeli) aggression against Palestinians".


Hamas also appreciated Raisi for extending "support in all forums and fields for our people in the steadfast Gaza Strip during the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood,"the Times of Israel reported.


Hezbollah also mourned Raisi's death saying, "Hezbollah in Lebanon extends its deepest condolences,” adding that it knew Raisi “closely for a long time” and that he was “a strong supporter, and a staunch defender of our causes… and a protector of the resistance movements," the report noted.


Meanwhile, the Iranian Embassy in Delhi also lowered its flag to a half-mast in view of the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, foreign minister Amir-Abdollahian, and other Iranian officials.






Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also expressed condolence on Iranian President Raisi's death saying that he was "deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise" of Raisi.


The Iranian officials died in a helicopter crash which happened due to heavy fog in the country's northern region. The chopper had made a "hard landing" when the Iranian President was heading to Tabriz, in northwest Iran, resulting in the crash.
