New Delhi: Coronavirus cases around the world have steadily increased and according to data by John Hopkins University has now surpassed 15.4 million. The total cases around the world have reached 15,446,800 while the global fatalities are 632,178. The US still leads as the country with the highest number of coronavirus cases with a total of 4,034,102 cases and 144,242 fatalities. After New York now California is emerging as the new hotspot for the infection with a total 1,65,134 cases.

Brazil still stands in the second position with a total of 2,287,475 cases and 84,082 fatalities. Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro on Thursday tested positive for the coronavirus again. The sixty-five-year-old was under a two-week quarantine after testing positive on July 7 will now extend it further. According to media reports, his office stated that he has suspended his travel plans and will continue working from his home.

India stands at the third place with a total of 12,87,945 cases. Several states such as Karnataka are emerging as new hotspots of the infection.

Russia follows next with 793,720 cases. Recently the country has announced that he coronavirus vaccine candidate that is soon going to enter phase 2 clinical trials will be made available to the public before the trails are completed. The last country in the top 5 list is South Africa which has a total of 408,052 cases.

Peru (371,096), Mexico (370,712), Chile (338,759), the UK (298,731), Iran (284,034) all come in the list of top ten countries with the highest coronavirus cases.
