Renowned rapper Eminem has asked Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to stop using his music during his presidential campaign. A representative for the rapper's publisher in a letter told the counsel that Marshall Mathers III aka Eminem officially objected to Ramaswamy's use of his compositions and was revoking a license in order for him to use them. The letter which was dated August 23 became public days after the 38-year-old candidate mounted an impromptu performance of Eminem's song 'Lose Yourself' at the Iowa State Fair, reported Guardian News. 


In the letter against Ramaswamy's campaign, Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI) said it “will consider any performance of the Eminem works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies,” reported the Guardian. While responding to this, Ramaswamy's spokesperson said, “Vivek just got on the stage and cut loose. To the American people’s chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to The Real Slim Shady.”


The US presidential candidate, a multimillionaire former biotech executive, loves rap and Eminem in particular. When he was a Harvard graduate, he used to rap under the name of 'Da Vek.' He told the Crimson (Harvard campus newspaper) that 'Lose Yourself' was his personal theme.

Ramaswamy also stole the spotlight at the first Republican debate in Wisconsin which took place on Wednesday. His angry and blustering performance included clashes with other candidates and a claim that “the climate change agenda is a hoax.” It was covered significantly on various media platforms.


Ramaswamy claims to be a political outsider, however, reporting by the Guardian says quite the opposite. According to the Guardian, he has deep links to rightwing donors and influencers, including Peter Thiel and Leonard Leo.
