Tech billionaire Elon Musk was part of a call between US President-elect Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the day after the presidential election, reported Axios quoting a source with knowledge of the situation.

Musk was with Trump at Mar-a-Lago when Zelenskyy called to congratulate Trump on securing a second term. The Republican President-elect put the call on speaker and Zelenskyy thanked Musk for his help with providing communications through Starlink to Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia.

The call spanned for roughly seven minutes and no policy was discussed, reported CNN quoting source.

The three men had a "good talk" and the tone of the call was described as "positive", reported The New York Times, quoting sources.

Previously, Zelesnkyy said in a post on X that he called Trump on Wednesday and congratulated him on "his historic landslide" win. "We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation. Strong and unwavering US leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace,” said the Ukrainian President in his post.

During his election campaign, Trump has been promising to bring back a quick end to the conflict without giving much details. He declined to say which side he wanted to see win the war but said that Zelenskyy has gotten too much military and financial aid from the Biden administration.

Starlink satellite communications network by Musk, whose proximity to Trump grew close over the course of US polls, had been a vital supplier to the Ukrainian war effort.

However, the relationship has soured as Musk complained about the cost of providing the service, and reports suggest that Starlink access was being restricted in areas like Russia-occupied Crimea.

In June 2023, the Pentagon announced that it would pay for Starlink in Ukraine.
