Tesla CEO and X chief (formerly known as Twitter) Elon Musk congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the most followed incumbent world leader on microblogging site X. 


He tweeted: "Congratulations PM Narendra Modi on being the most followed world leader."






This comes after PM Modu crossed 100 million followers on X, becoming the most followed incumbent world leader on the site.


Expressing gratitude, the PM posted on X on July 14: "A hundred million on X. Happy to be on this vibrant medium and cherish the discussion, debate, insights, people’s blessings, constructive criticism and more. Looking forward to an equally engaging time in the future as well."






Other Political Leaders & Their Followers On X


The other world leaders in India such as Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, and Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have fewer followers than PM Modi.


While Gandhi has 26.4 million followers, Kejriwal has 27.5 million. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has 19.9 million followers and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has 7.4 million.


Other global leaders also have a considerably smaller followers count on X. United States president Joe Biden has 38.1 million followers, Pope Francis has 18.5 million followers, the ruler of Dubai, Shekh Mohammed has 11.2 million followers, PM of Italy Giorgia Meloni has 2.4 million followers, and President of France Emmanuel Macron has 9.8 milliom followers, among other leaders.


PM Modi, however, is second in terms of social media following on X among all the political figures. Former US President Barack Obama has the highest number of followers at 131.7 million.
