An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck Hokkaido in Japan, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said, as reported by the news agency Reuters. The epicentre of the earthquake was 46 kilometres (28.58 miles) below the Earth's surface, GFZ said.
