New Delhi: Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joined the festivities and helped box sweets in Brampton for families observing this festival, he also issued a statement wishing the communities celebrating the festivals a 'Happy Diwali!'






Earlier he sent a video message observing the festival as a joyous one.

For the Sikh holiday, Bandi Chhor Divas issued a statement, saying “Bandi Chhor Divas is a time of celebration, where family and friends traditionally gather to read the Sikh holy book – the Guru Granth Sahib – feast, and adorn their homes and Gurdwaras in colourful lights. Similarly, U.S. President Joe Biden & Vice President Kamala Harris sent their greeting on Diwali day. President Biden said "May the light of Diwali remind us that from darkness there is knowledge, wisdom, and truth. From division, unity. From despair, hope. "






Vice President Kamala Harris stated that this year Diwali arrives with an even deeper meaning in the midst of a devastating pandemic reminding us of our greatest values, "Our gratitude to our friends and family and our responsibility to those in need".
