New Delhi: In a bizarre incident in China, a kindergarten school welcomed students with a pole dance, performed on the pole bearing the country's flag, triggering public anger.

The video of pole dance show organised in front of the children on the very first day of the classes, went viral.  The principal of the school was then fired following widespread criticism.

As per reports, the principal of the school Lai Rong said the show was conducted amid 500 students aged between three to six years.

The school management faced stern criticism online, with people calling the dance inappropriate for children at that age.

The principal sent an apology note to the state-run Global Times on Monday, saying it only wanted to lighten up the atmosphere.

American writer Michael Standaert who along with his wife took their children to the school was surprised to the performance. He posted the video of the dance on Twitter.

“Who would think this is a good idea? We're trying to pull the kids out of the school and get our tuition back,” he wrote.
