New Delhi: Amid the escalated tensions between Russia and Ukraine, An 80-year-old Ukrainian man's photo trying to enlist himself in the Ukrainian army has gone viral on social media.
Shared on microblogging site Twitter by a user named Kateryna Yushchenko, who is the former first lady of Ukraine, the photo shows the octogenarian standing in front of several other Ukrainian army personnel, holding a brown bag of his belongings.
In the caption of the photo, Yushchenko wrote, “Someone posted a photo of this 80-year-old who showed up to join the army, carrying with him a small case with 2 T-shirts, a pair of extra pants, a toothbrush and a few sandwiches for lunch. He said he was doing it for his grandkids.”
The photo, that has gone viral across social media platforms, has drawn a lot of reactions, with several people hit hard with the heart-wrenching reality of war, while others were instilled with hope that Ukraine would emerge victorious in the current conflict with Russia.
Notably, the Russian military that has been closing in on Kyiv is facing a fierce resistance from the Ukrainian forces. Even the residents are putting up a brave and fierce fight against the invaders as the Ukrainian army remains outnumbered in front of the Russian forces.
