New Delhi: Since former US President Donald Trump's mugshot was captured at the Fulton County jail in Georgia, where he surrendered in connection with the Georgia election subversion case, the Trump 2024 presidential campaign has raised $7.1 million in funds, reported news agency Reuters.
As per the agency, in the last three weeks, Trump's campaign raised around $20 million following his indictment in federal and state cases connected to his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Trump's campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said that on Friday alone, Trump brought in $4.18 million, making it the highest-grossing day of his campaign so far.
Trump's mug shot has been turned into T-shirts, shot glasses, mugs, posters, and even bobblehead dolls by friends and foes alike.
The shot of Trump with a red tie, glistening hair, and an icy scowl was captured as the Republican presidential front-runner was arrested on more than a dozen felony charges, part of a criminal case stemming from his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump, who was defeated in 2020 by Democrat Joe Biden, is again seeking the Republican Party's nomination for president.
Currently, Trump is facing four indictments, including two related to his false claims that the election was stolen and the January 6, 2021 attack by his followers on the US Capitol in Washington, DC
He has, however, denied all charges.
Trump also made a classic come back to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, for the first time since January 2021 to share a fundraising note.
“I walked into the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NEVER SURRENDER OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA,” Trump wrote Thursday.
He asked his supporters to make a campaign contribution “to evict” President Joe Biden “during this dark chapter in our nation’s history.”
On August 15, Trump was indicted by a Georgia grand jury after an investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis into his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Biden in the state.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis brought 41 charges against Trump and 18 co-defendants, including his former personal attorney and New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
The charges include violating the state’s anti-racketeering law, and the indictment claims the defendants worked as an “enterprise” to overturn the state’s election result, CNN reported.
