An 11-year-old Florida boy was arrested on Monday after making a written threat of a mass shooting a Creakside Middle School ot Silver Sands Middle School. According to a sheriff, he had a list of names and targets, which he allegedly bragged about. He later said it was all a "joke".
He also showed his classmates a video of his cache of arsenal and made violent threats. The video was shared by Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood on his X handle. In the video, a stockpile of various pistols, airsoft rifles, fake ammunition, swords, throwing stars, knives, and other weapons, which were seized from the boy can be seen displayed on a table.
"As promised. We just arrested a Creekside Middle School student who made threats to commit a school shooting at Creekside or Silver Sands Middle School. He had written a list of names and targets. He says it was all a joke," Sheriff Mike Chitwood wrote.
'Will Put You Out For Public Embarassment': Sheriff
The boy has been slapped with felony charge for his "joke" and the sheriff has even published a video of cops escorting the boy, handcuffed at his ankles and wrists, into the jail.
“Every time we make an arrest, your kid’s photo is going to be put out there…We’re gonna come and get you. We’re going to put you out for public embarrassment,” Sheriff Chitwood said in a press conference.
Dorelli's arrest came just a few days after the sheriff had vowed to "perp-walk" kids making prank threats, in view of a surge in false tips following the shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia, which had claimed four lives. A 14-year-old was arrested for the shooting that killed two teachers and two students. Nine others were injured in the incident.
"I can and will release the names and photos of juveniles who are committing these felonies, threatening our students, disrupting our schools and consuming law enforcement resources. You can expect video coming up next," Chitwood tweeted.
