Mumbai: A rooftop New Year party turned fatal as a woman fell down from the terrace killing her instantly. The Khar police have detained three of her friends as they suspect foul play.
Mumbai woman fell off the terrace during a late-night New Year’s Eve party on Thursday. She died instantly. According to a Mid-day, the incident was reported under the jurisdiction of Khar police station. The body has been sent for post mortem.
As per the preliminary probe, the police suspects foul play and has detained three of her friends, who are college students. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

In an eerily similar instance, a 29-year-old woman, celebrating New Year’s Eve with her husband on the terrace of their home in Poddarnagar, south Kolkata, was killed after she fell down four storeys through a narrow shaft between two adjacent buildings in January 2020.

For New Year's Eve, a night curfew has been imposed in Mumbai from 11 pm to 6 am and it remained in force till January 5.  All shops, barring essential services like medical stores, had to close shutters by 11 pm. Police had allowed people to come out and celebrate but festivities on December 31, 2020, but it had to wind up by 11 pm. The Maharashtra government has also announced an extension of the lockdown restrictions in the state till 31 January. The lockdown norms will be in place till midnight of 31 January. The government has also eased several lockdown restrictions in a bid to allow economic activities in the state.
