The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been making desperate bids to establish its political presence in the southern state of Kerala, is roping in several prominent personalities as the state goes to polls within few months. The BJP has so far projected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as someone who can revive Kerala’s fortune and ensure overall development of the state. This is so as the saffron party has till date never won a Lok Sabha seat from Kerala. In what may boost the BJP’s prospects and ensure it emerges successful in the Kerala electoral battle due in May, ‘Metroman’ E. Sreedharan is all set to join the party.
According to reports, the 88-year-old is expected to take the saffron party’s primary membership during the upcoming ‘Vijaya Yatra’ led by Kerala BJP chief K. Surendran.
Sreedharan, who served as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director between 1995 and 2012, may also contest the Kerala Assembly polls.
The Indian Government honoured Sreedharan, who is who is credited with changing the face of public transport in India with his leadership in building the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro, with the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

Sreedharan, particularly known for isolating his projects from political pressures and influences and winning political commitments for fast execution of projects, is also said to be the brain many similar projects across the country.
