Here’s all the two-wheeler news that transpired during this week under one roof
This week, we saw a lot of confirmed news about upcoming bikes and scooters, multiple launches from two major brands and two important events. Let’s have a look.
Launches:
Kawasaki 2019 models:
This week Kawasaki launched two models from its 2019 lineup, the Z650 and the Z900. The updates are purely cosmetic and include new colours and graphics. Know more about the 2019 Z650 here and the Z900 here.
UM Renegade series:
The Renegade series consisting of the Commando and Sport S now come in carburetted trim that is Rs 2,000 cheaper than the fuel-injected variants of the same. While the 279.5cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor’s dimensions remain the same, replacing fuel injection with a carburettor has seen a drop in power. Both bikes will be sold alongside their FE counterparts. To know more, click here.

Hero Destini 125:
Hero MotoCorp’s new 125cc scooter is all set to launch on October 22. The Destini 125 looks like a more mature version of the 110cc Duet and gets a new front end, LED headlamp and a semi digital instrument cluster. Its 124.6cc motor makes 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque and comes with Hero’s i3S start-stop technology. Read more about the Hero Destini 125 here.
KTM 125 Duke and 790 Duke:
While we knew all along that KTM would get the 790 Duke here, the 125 Duke comes as a surprise. Reliable sources indicate that the 125cc sports naked is a couple of months away from debuting in India. We expect the bike to be priced around Rs 1.25 lakh, though whether KTM gets it with the 200 Duke’s styling or goes all out and get it in the 390 Duke’s bodywork remains to be seen. Know more about the upcoming KTM 125 Duke here.
The KTM 790 Duke, meanwhile, is expected next year. While KTM could have launched it now as a CBU, we suspect the delay could be due to KTM planning to assemble it here. That move could make pricing really sweet. To check out expected price and launch details, click here.
Jawa 300:
We got a sneak peak of the upcoming Jawa bike for India in the form of a beautifully crafted 293cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor based on the motor that powers the Mahindra Mojo. We expect the new bike to feature retro lines but have a modern chassis underneath, similar to what they did with the engine. Know more about this upcoming classic here.
