New Delhi: Indian embassies and consulates are like extended parts of India abroad. They serve the Indian citizens when in need in a foreign land. Such has been the narration so far but a video that went viral on social media platforms recently is raising a few eyebrows on the services provided by Embassy Officials.
Long-time TV host, actor, and celebrity Simi Garewal shared a video on her Twitter handle, where she alleged that an Indian national was not able to get a visa from the embassy in New York because of behavoriual issue by the consulate staff.
However, it is not clear from the video why the heated discussion took place between the two.

As reaction poured in on social media handles, the dated video has been addressed by the Consulate General of India in New York, as per a tweet by them.
"We have taken note of the complaint. The Consulate maintains the highest standards of public service. This particular incident does not reflect either its norms or its guidelines of public functioning. The Consul General has personally reviewed the matter. Based on the information presented, it has been decided to institute disciplinary proceedings against the concerned officer," the note read.
