Following the Polo and Vento facelift, Volkswagen has now decided to introduce the GT Line trim in the Ameo. It is only available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and is priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom India).

Even though it gets the GT Line cosmetic treatment, it misses out on the updates that were introduced in the Polo and Vento facelift. The cosmetic updates on the Ameo include GT Line decals and badges with black-coloured roof, ORVMs and a bootlid spoiler. Volkswagen offers five colour options to choose from: Sunset Red, Candy White, Lapiz Blue, Reflex Silver and Carbon Steel.

The Ameo GT Line gets the same feature list as the top-spec Highline Plus, including cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, auto AC, rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking camera and a 7-inch infotainment system.

The 1.5-litre diesel unit on the Ameo GT Line churns out 110PS of power and 250Nm of torque. As of now, it comes coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox but Volkswagen could bring a manual option in the future. The Ameo goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and the Ford Aspire.
