NEW DELHI: A photo showing a group of schoolgirls from Manipur forming a human chain to pull a broken-down bus has gone viral on social media.

In the photo, a group of girls can be seen forming a human chain to drag a bus up the narrow path using a giant rope. It is being said that the girls were on a study trip to Loktak when their bus got stuck on a muddy track.

"Manipuri girls went for a study tour to Loktak Lake. Bus gets stuck in mud. Girls pull bus up and break the internet," Twitter user Lawai BemBem says in his tweet posted on April 26.

Social media users are hailing the effort as a testament to the strength of girl power and also criticizing the government for not building viable roads.

"Bravo young ladies! Salute your courage even in such adverse situation. Well done!," a twitter user said.

Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India. Located 39 km from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, it is also called the only floating lake in the world due to the large amount of floating phumdis on its surface.
